30 Day Film Challenge - Day #21, The Most Bizarre Film You’ve Ever Seen


2001: A Space Odyssey. 2001 is definitely the weirdest movie I’ve ever seen, hands down. My dad first showed it to me as a child, and I’ve watched it many times since, but I didn’t fully understand it then and I don’t now. But I suppose I’m not alone in this - it is Kubrick, after all. Well over 2 hours, this film is an epic journey into the bizarre edges of space and time, where nothing is absolutely clear. Beautiful yet strange, with some of the most iconic shots in film history, it’s a classic. And HAL the computer is easily my favorite character - “Just what do you think you’re doing, Dave?”

The runners-up are Enter the Void (Shroom recommended it and I watched it stoned and almost had a goddamn heart attack - very weird film) and Donnie Darko (dear lord, I love this movie).
